Police chase, arrest elusive bikers

DEL CITY, Okla. — Police have arrested two suspects after a dangerous overnight chase.

The chase started on I-35 near S.W. 89th St.

Two suspects on a motorcycle led police on a lengthy chase weaving through traffic and running red lights.

Police said, at one point during the chase, one suspect turned off his headlights and was biking blind through the streets of Del City as he was trying to lose the police.

The chase ended in a neighborhood around the 3000 block of Lazy Lane.

Both suspects hid from police before eventually giving up and being arrested.

Police bust nets 23 kilos of cocaine

OKLAHOMA CITY — Police arrested two California suspects for trafficking a large amount of cocaine through Oklahoma.

The bust was a few weeks ago along I-40 near Peebly Rd.

Jorge Guevara, 48, and 23-year-old Jacinto Cruz were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail after the bust.

Police said the pair was driving a semi when officers stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation.

A drug dog first sniffed the loot after officers asked to search the vehicle.

MSgt. Gary Knight said, “Officers opened up the back of the semi and basically climbed over things and made their way to the front where a false wall was found. In that false wall was 23 kilograms of cocaine.”

Authorities said the cocaine would be worth $250,000 to $800,000 on the street.

Knight said, “It was in numerous bundles. Obviously it was being transported to be sold somewhere else.”

Testimony begins for Del City dad accused of child neglect

OKLAHOMA CITY — Testimony begins in the trial of a Del City father charged in connection with the death of his three kids.

Early last year three young children, Christopher, Crystal and Kaylee Dunham died in an RV fire.

Their father, Christopher Dunham, is charged with child neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia in the case.

The first witnesses included a neighbor, a Department of Human Services worker and several fire investigators.

The two sides working hard to show much different pictures of the defendant.

Christopher Dunham got choked up in court, looking at pictures of the fire with his three kids dead inside.

From the beginning, prosecutors argued long before this fatal fire broke out, Chris had been a neglectful dad.

Prior to the camper catching fire, prosecutors pointed out Chris installed a lock on the RV door to keep the kids inside.

That also made it impossible for them to escape the fire.

Trial begins for dad accused of neglect in death of 3 kids

OKLAHOMA CITY — The trial begins for a Del City dad accused of child neglect in the death of his three kids.

Christopher, Crystal and Kaylee Dunham died last year in an RV fire.

Monday a jury was selected in the trial of their father, Christopher Dunham.

He’s charged with child neglect or enabling child neglect as well as a possession of drug paraphernalia.

Testimony will begin Tuesday morning.

During trial the defense intends to call friends, family and co-workers to court to show Chris as a loving dad who was at work when the fire broke out and did nothing wrong.

“The defense always wants the jury to relate to the defendant. They want to see him as something other than someone charged with a crime, to identify with him on a personal level, as a father,” legal analyst Jacqui Ford said.

The children’s mother, Stephanie Dunham, entered a no contest plea last week.

Del City mom pleads no contest after death of 3 kids

OKLAHOMA CITY — A Del City mother charged with child neglect in the death of her three kids pleads no contest.

Early last year three young children died in an RV fire.

Their mother, Stephanie Dunham, allegedly tested positive for traces of meth in her system at the time of the fire.

Prosecutors also claim Dunham contributed to the deaths by repeatedly locking the kids inside this burned out camper while she got high on meth and pot.

Friday Stephanie decided not to fight the case at trial.

The no contest plea on several counts of child neglect means the judge will sentence Dunham as if she’s guilty.

Dunham faces up to a life sentence.

One local attorney said the plea is a risky move on her part.

“To enter a blind plea without accepting responsibility is fairly dangerous,” attorney Jacqui Ford said.

14 Arrested in OKC Gang Sweep

OKLAHOMA CITY — Thursday marked a busy day for law enforcement across the metro.

Oklahoma City police, and several other agencies, teamed up to arrest more than a dozen known gang members.

The sweep stretched from Midwest City to Guthrie.

In all, 14 men all from the same Hispanic gang were arrested, most on the charge of racketeering.

It’s not the first and won’t be the last time local law enforcement cracks down on the illegal activity.

“This related a lot to drive-by shootings other activities the gang including drug use,” Oklahoma City MSgt. Gary Knight said.

A neighborhood on S. Byers is one of many where police showed up Thursday to arrest accused gang members.

The investigation this week centered on one specific Hispanic gang, allegedly operating as an organzied criminal enterprise.

“This gang has been acting as a business conducting criminal activity,” Knight said.
